NEUE ZUCKERLÖSEANLAGE BEI RIVELLA

Autexis integrated the new sugar dissolving station into the tried-and-tested process control system at Rivella. Extensive in-house testing enabled optimal and fast start-up of operations since only process-dependent parameters needed to be configured for the station.

About Rivella

The international Rivella Group, which is headquartered in Rothrist, Aargau, Switzerland, has been successfully producing beverages for over 60 years. The company is named after the soft drink of the same name which the company founder Dr Robert Barth created in 1952. Every year around 100 million litres of soft drinks and fruit juices leave the production facilities. Rivella has 260 employees and achieves an annual turnover of 145 million Swiss francs.

Updating the sugar dissolving station

In the future, Rivella will continue to produce the sugar syrup used in production of soft drinks itself in Rothrist, Switzerland. The outdated sugar dissolving station was replaced with a cutting-edge Miteco sugar dissolving station (Tetra Pak).

Integration into the existing control system

The plant consists of the following components: a sugar silo, sugar dissolver and a pasteuriser. The existing sugar silo was brought up to the latest technical standards, equipped with a new sugar conveyor system and integrated into the new system. The new sugar dissolver and pasteuriser were delivered fully assembled and integrated into the existing automation solution on-site. The entire visualisation system was also implemented in the already existing ProLeiT control system. Autexis Control AG fully implemented the new sugar dissolving station’s control and visualisation system. After completing the software development,

all software modules were thoroughly tested on the Autexis test system in Villmergen and then approved by the client Rivella and the plant manufacturer Miteco with a factory acceptance test.

Client benefits

Extensive in-house testing enabled optimal and fast start-up of operations since only process-dependent parameters needed to be configured for the station. The control concept of horizontal integration introduced six years ago could be further expanded since the station controlling was fully integrated into the existing ProLeiT control system. Operating costs and training costs could be reduced as a result.
